1. shit 不是東西,差勁(用單數(shù))

A. You can’t close1 the deals you’re given,you can’t close shit,you are shit! Hit the bricks2, pal, and beat it,cause you are going out!

2. Coffee break 喝咖啡休息,是美國的辦公室文化。另有smoke break(吸煙時間)、lunch break(午飯時間)。

3. batshit 瘋子

2. get burned 也是被動語態(tài),以“被燒到”轉(zhuǎn)喻“吃虧、上當(dāng)、受騙”。

9. shithead 滿腦袋漿糊的人

A. Don’t ever call my friend a“shithead” again,OK1?

注:

1. OK?(okay?) 美國人的口頭禪之一,在責(zé)斥性的否定句中,含“聽到了沒有?”之意(如上句);在肯定句中含有“請求”之意,如Give me another one,OK?(再給我一個,好嗎?),Let’s do it again,OK?(我們再試一次,好不好?)。

10. shitstick 卑劣家伙,不受歡迎的人物,無恥之徒

A. You little shitstick,stop bothering Marge!

無恥小子,別再打擾瑪姬了!

可是,是她邀我出去約會的啊。

2. I wouldn’t want him married(to)…married 是形容詞性質(zhì),當(dāng)賓語him的補(bǔ)語,want這類動詞叫使役動詞(causative verbs),如 have,make,get等,都常造這樣的句型。

A. Think you’re some hot shit,don’t you?Well, why can’t you fix the thing?

你以為自己多了不起嗎?那么,為什么不能把這個東西修好呢?

12. full of shit 滿嘴胡說八道,滿肚子廢話,吃屎長大的

1. 讀者來信抱怨警車隨處亂停,但一般市民的車子卻不然。

2. nagging 當(dāng)形容詞時,作“心煩意亂”致“未能集中意志的”解 (persistently distracting);nag當(dāng)名詞時,指“愛嘮叨的女人”,如 She became such a nag that he divorced her. (她變成那么樣的嘮叨不休所以他跟她離婚了。);nag美國俗稱“賽馬”,如He bet $5 on some nag in the fifth. (他下注五塊錢在第五場出賽的一匹馬身上。);nag也可當(dāng)動詞,是“惱人”,如Stop nagging me!(別再嘮叨我了!)

1. the shits 瀉肚子,使人納悶的事

(他們飛快地跑下山去。)Shit(大便)的避諱字有b.m.或 B.M.(即bowel movement),caca(kaka),crap,crud,doo-doo,dump, dung, number two, poo-poo,poop,turd。其中caca(kaka),number two, poo-poo通常是對小孩子說的;crud作shit的避諱字時,通常當(dāng)驚嘆詞,表示失望或激怒;dung指動物的“糞便”;poop除作“屎”解外,另當(dāng)動詞作“使疲倦”解,如I’m all pooped out(我很累),作“情報”解,如What’s the latest poop on the president’s affair?(總統(tǒng)的婚外情的最新情報是什么?);turd雖為shit的避諱字,但本身亦不完全被美國大眾接受。 Take a shit(大便),也可以說成do one’s business,take a crap,take a dump。Shit語氣粗俗,正式社交場所切忌使用,仕子淑女尤然。

idiot及其字群可當(dāng)名詞及形容詞。當(dāng)名詞時,idiot指“白癡”, idiocy為“白癡的行為”。idiot常前加形容詞stupid,以加強(qiáng)語氣。當(dāng)形容詞時的idiot及idiotic是“愚蠢的”、“荒唐的”,常形容 idea,notion,way,thing等名詞。雖語氣并不粗俗,但正式社交場合仍當(dāng)視情況用之,雅士淑女尤然。

Shit一字在英語粗話罵人的詞匯里,與fuck,damn相較有過之而無不及。美國中產(chǎn)階級雖不接受shit,視shit為粗俗字,但仍普遍使用之,連在國際網(wǎng)絡(luò)上也屢見不鮮。 Shit 當(dāng)名詞、動詞、形容詞、副詞、感嘆詞及加強(qiáng)語氣的虛詞。當(dāng)名詞時,指任何東西(多帶貶意),如Get rid of that shit! (把那些垃圾給扔掉!);加a或 the,如He’s a shit. (他的作風(fēng)惡劣),I go the shits. (復(fù)數(shù))(我拉肚子。)與其他名詞(尤其動物名)構(gòu)成復(fù)合名詞,如Some apeshit broke all the windows. (有個瘋子把玻璃窗都打破了。) Those empties go in the shitcan. 1. b.m.,B.M. (bowel movement) 糞便

A. Altogether there are about 6000 different kinds of dung beetles. They do a good job of keeping the world from getting covered with a blanket of B.M.!

2. lying around 到處亂丟。是現(xiàn)在分詞短語,說明crap的補(bǔ)語。

4. full of crap 胡說八道,滿肚子廢話,吃屎長大的

Wack一字于1935-1940年始見于英文文獻(xiàn),當(dāng)名詞、動詞、形容詞,而wacko是(1975)較新的損人話,當(dāng)名詞時,指言論或行為非一般人所能接受者(outside social norms);wacky是形容詞,通常后跟名詞,有idea,notion,plan,suggestion等字,如That’s a wacky notion. (那種想法怪怪的)。 Wack,wacko是損人貶事的字眼,雖英文報章雜志時見用之,但在正式社交場所應(yīng)視情況而定,仕人淑女尤然。
