Battle-ax一字當名詞時,尤指上了年紀而仍嬌嗔兇悍,亂發(fā)雌威的女人,也是美國人厭惡岳母而給予的貶稱。男人厭煩自己太太時,也同用一詞。此字當形容詞時后跟名詞,作“歷經(jīng)滄桑的”解。

Battle-ax 貶物——老舊的

1. Xer[ks]指1970年代出生的美國人。名稱的由來乃因其被媒體視為缺乏歷史代表性,故索性套上個“x”代號名之,或以Generation X,Gen X,13th Generation (從Benjamin Franklin 起算), 13ers,Slackers (投機取巧者),Post-Baby Boomers(第二次大戰(zhàn)后那一代的幸運兒女) 等名稱呼之。
2. Fortune 500 財富雜志,定期榜列美國五百家最大企業(yè)。
3. baby boomer 指1946到1964年間出生的“嬰兒潮”美國人。第二次世界大戰(zhàn)后,美國經(jīng)濟蓬勃(boom),人口也迅速增加(boom),故該代的人是天之驕子,自鳴得意。
