Each statue is unique!

每個(gè)兵馬俑都是獨(dú)一無(wú)二的!

口語(yǔ)君：世上沒(méi)有兩片相同的葉子，據(jù)說(shuō)，兵馬俑也是如此。這些陶俑從臉型、表情、年齡，到發(fā)型、衣飾、兵甲沒(méi)有一處是相同的，這不，陶小德和戴可兒正感嘆這事呢：

M: Every statue that has been found is unique. There are no two alike, even among the horses!

人們發(fā)現(xiàn)的每個(gè)兵俑都是獨(dú)一無(wú)二的，絕沒(méi)有重樣的，就算是馬俑也是如此!

F: That's really amazing!

那可真了不起啊!

M: Yes, the craftsmen were really determined to make a lifelike army to protect the emperor at his death.

是啊，工匠們真是下了決心要做出一支栩栩如生的軍隊(duì)來(lái)保護(hù)逝世的皇帝。

F: Why are the horses so odd-looking? They almost look like cartoons.

為什么馬俑看上去那么怪呢?看起來(lái)就像是卡通形象。

M: Horses today are bred to be sleek and fast. Horses in the days of the Qin Dynasty had heavy loads and long distances to cover. So they are stocky and muscular.

如今的馬都被喂養(yǎng)成圓潤(rùn)且奔跑速度很快的品種。而秦朝那會(huì)兒的馬要馱重物且必須長(zhǎng)途跋涉，因此他們比較敦實(shí)且肌肉發(fā)達(dá)。

口語(yǔ)君：據(jù)說(shuō)，工匠們是根據(jù)士兵來(lái)塑造陶俑的。秦始皇統(tǒng)一六國(guó)后，秦國(guó)開(kāi)始實(shí)行全國(guó)征兵制，兵源來(lái)自全國(guó)各地，這或許便是每個(gè)兵馬俑，甚至他們身上的細(xì)節(jié)都各不相同的主要原因。

1. The terracotta warriors are unique. Not one looks like another, either in physiognomy, costume or even coiffure.

兵馬俑是獨(dú)一無(wú)二的。無(wú)論外貌、服裝、甚至發(fā)型，都絕無(wú)兩個(gè)形似的陶俑。

2. They represent a one-off burst of realism in Chinese art, unprecedented and thereafter discontinued (at least until the modern era).

這些陶俑代表著中國(guó)藝術(shù)發(fā)展的一次現(xiàn)實(shí)主義突破，它是史無(wú)前例的，且此后(至少直到現(xiàn)代)都沒(méi)再延續(xù)下去。

3. Not only are they life-size and individually modeled in clay, but the detail of the figures is astounding.

這些陶俑不僅是真人大小、每個(gè)都用粘土制成，且陶俑的細(xì)節(jié)都很絕。
