英式拼寫與美式拼寫的九大明顯區(qū)別

　　1) 英國英語單詞中不發(fā)音的詞尾 -me, -ue在美國英語拼寫中被刪除。如 : kilogramme/kilogram ( 公斤)， programme/program ( 方案)， catalogue/catalog(目錄)等。

　　2) 英國英語中的以 -our 結尾的單詞， 在美國英語中刪去了不發(fā)音的字母 u。如： behaviour/behavior( 舉止、行為)， discolour/discolor( 褪色)， labour/labor(勞動)等。

　　3) 英國英語拼寫字母 ae 或 oe, 在美國英語中僅留發(fā)音元音 e。如： anaemia/anemia( 貧血癥)，aeon/eon(永世)， aesthetic/esthetic(美學的)等。

　　4) 英國英語拼寫字母 -ll-, 在美國英語只寫-l-。如： chilli/chili(干辣椒)， dialling/dialing(電話撥碼)， leveller/leveler(水平測量員)等。但是， 也有一些相反的例子， 如美國英語中的 appall、instill, distill、installment、willful 等在英國英語中往往只有單寫 l。而 distillery、installation、propeller 等詞的拼法則在英國英語和美國英語中是相同的。
