這里的work不是指“工作”，而是指“事物運(yùn)作的道理與規(guī)范”，類似于行規(guī)的概念：
A:I am afraid we are going to have to fire you.

B:It's OK, I know how it works. You just don't like me.
沒關(guān)系，我知道行規(guī)。你就是看不慣我。
【give away 送掉】
give away 這個(gè)短語看起來很簡(jiǎn)單，不過有許多常用的意思，對(duì)話中所用到的give away 是指“贈(zèng)送”。
A: Why did you give your bicycle away?
你為何把你的腳踏車送掉了？
B: It's too old. I want to get a new one anyway.
那臺(tái)太老了。反正我要換新的。
