March 12 marks Tree Planting Day in China. Residents are encouraged to take part in tree planting activities. Beijing has set up 17 tree planting locations this spring, offering a total area of 73 hectares for tree planting activities. 210 million trees have been planted through such activities since the festival was approved by the 5th National People’s Congress in 1979. From 1980 to the end of 2021, the capital's forest coverage rate increased from 12.83% to 44.6%, its urban green coverage rate increased from 20.08% to 49%, and its per capita public green space reached 16.6 square meters.
3月12日是中國植樹節(jié)，今年春季，全市設(shè)立春季植樹盡責(zé)接待點(diǎn)17處，可供植樹面積1100畝。1979年，第五屆全國人大常委會第六次會議決定每年3月12日為我國的植樹節(jié)，自開展全民義務(wù)植樹以來，北京已有超過1億人次通過各種形式參加義務(wù)植樹活動(dòng)，植樹2.1億株。1980年到2021年底，全市森林覆蓋率由12.83%提高到44.6%，城市綠化覆蓋率由20.08％提高到49%，人均公共綠地面積達(dá)到16.6平方米。
