國(guó)際奧委會(huì)前主席羅格逝世

Former International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge has passed away at the age of 79, the IOC announced on Sunday.

國(guó)際奧委會(huì)8月29日宣布，國(guó)際奧林匹克委員會(huì)前主席雅克•羅格去世，享年79歲。

Rogge was the eighth president of the IOC, from 2001 to 2013, after which he became honorary president.

羅格于2001年到2013年任國(guó)際奧委會(huì)第八任主席，后擔(dān)任名譽(yù)主席。

Rogge was an orthopedic surgeon with a degree in sports medicine.

他曾是一名矯形外科醫(yī)生，擁有運(yùn)動(dòng)醫(yī)學(xué)學(xué)位。

A life-long sports fan and an accomplished athlete, Rogge was a Belgian rugby champion and represented his country on the national team.

作為一個(gè)終身體育迷和出色的運(yùn)動(dòng)員，羅格作為橄欖球運(yùn)動(dòng)員曾獲比利時(shí)聯(lián)賽冠軍，并入選比利時(shí)國(guó)家橄欖球隊(duì)。

He also competed in sailing at three editions of the Olympic Games, in 1968, 1972 and 1976.

After his career as an athlete he became president of the Belgian and European Olympic Committees, and was elected president of the IOC in 2001.

After his IOC presidency, he also served as a Special Envoy for Youth, Refugees and Sport to the United Nations.

"The entire Olympic Movement will deeply mourn the loss of a great friend and a passionate fan of sport," said IOC President Thomas Bach in a statement.

As a mark of respect, the Olympic flag will be flown at half-mast for five days at Olympic House, at The Olympic Museum and at all IOC properties.

為了表達(dá)對(duì)羅格的尊重，未來(lái)5天，在奧林匹克大廈、奧林匹克博物館以及所有國(guó)際奧委會(huì)的相關(guān)建筑前，奧林匹克會(huì)旗將降半旗志哀。
