日本政府可能將核污水排入太平洋

The Japanese government may announce as early as Tuesday plans to dispose of radioactive wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean, sources with knowledge of the matter said Friday.

知情人士4月9日透露，日本政府可能最早于4月13日宣布，計劃將曾遭受重創(chuàng)的福島第一核電站的核污水排入太平洋。

The sources said the government will convene a meeting of relevant ministers and announce the decision as early as next Tuesday.

知情人士稱，日本政府最早將于4月13日召開內閣會議，正式宣布這一決定。

While treated, the radiation-tainted water, stored in tanks at the plant in Japan's northeast, is expected to reach capacity next year.

The plant had its key cooling functions knocked out after being battered by a massive earthquake-triggered tsunami a decade ago, resulting in the world's worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl in 1986.
