The US dollar has fallen 14.6 per cent against the euro since Donald Trump took office a year ago, including a 1.8 per cent drop in the two days since Mr Mnuchin’s remarks. The ECB kept its interest rates at record lows and reiterated its commitment to keep its crisis-era bond-buying programme in place, and expand it if necessary, until inflation in the eurozone begins to rise.
