圣彼得堡再遭恐襲 普京下令重拳打擊

Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, has called a bomb attack in a St Petersburg supermarket an act of terrorism and ordered security forces to crack down on terror suspects.

俄羅斯總統(tǒng)弗拉基米爾•普京(Vladimir Putin)把圣彼得堡一家超市發(fā)生的炸彈襲擊事件定性為恐怖主義行為，并命令安全部隊(duì)打擊恐襲嫌疑人。

Mr Putin, who has cultivated a strongman image of being tough on security threats throughout his 18-year leadership, called for security forces “not to take any prisoners, to liquidate bandits on the spot”.

在18年掌權(quán)期間打造起鐵腕對(duì)付安全威脅的強(qiáng)人領(lǐng)袖形象的普京，要求安全部隊(duì)“沒(méi)必要抓捕活人，而是要當(dāng)場(chǎng)干掉匪徒”。

Mr Putin, who is standing for a fourth term in office in March, made the remarks at an event on Thursday to celebrate Russian forces who had fought in Syria, a military intervention that Moscow has portrayed as an anti-terror campaign that helped eliminate threats to Russia and other countries.

Thirteen people were injured after a crude homemade bomb exploded in a supermarket in the city. It was the latest in a series of recent blasts targeting Mr Putin’s home city, and comes just six months before the country hosts the 2018 World Cup.

An attack on St Petersburg’s underground metro system in April killed 14 people, and was linked to Islamist militant groups. This month Russia said it had prevented an attack on a cathedral in the city thanks to information provided by US intelligence agencies.

Russia’s anti-terror committee said Wednesday’s bomb had a force equivalent to 200 grams of TNT. Local media reported that security cameras had recorded a “man of non-Slavic appearance” leaving a backpack containing the device in a locker inside the supermarket.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack and investigations are continuing.

Mr Putin, who used to run Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the successor of the Soviet KGB, before becoming president, said security officers should step up their anti-terror actions.
