Amazon customers who trust the company enough to let its staff walk into their kitchens and living rooms while they are out will soon be able to try its new in-home delivery service.

那些對亞馬遜(Amazon)足夠信任、愿意在自己外出時讓該公司員工進入自家廚房與客廳的顧客,很快就能試一試亞馬遜新推出的送貨進門服務(wù)了。

Amazon said yesterday it would launch its new Key service and an accompanying internet-connected security camera in 37 US cities on November 8, with ambitions to grow beyond that in the coming months.

亞馬遜昨日表示,11月8日將在美國37個城市推出新的Key服務(wù),伴隨一個聯(lián)網(wǎng)的安全攝像頭,并準備在未來幾個月擴展這項服務(wù)。

The Key system is designed to stem the ecommerce industry’s increasingly serious problem of packages being stolen from doorsteps, when their intended recipients are not home to receive a delivery.

Key系統(tǒng)的設(shè)計宗旨是遏止電商行業(yè)一個日益嚴重的問題,即當(dāng)收件人外出無法收貨時,投遞到門口的包裹被別人偷走。

Nonetheless, as Amazon uses its smart-home devices to weave itself ever deeper into its customers’ daily lives, by allowing strangers into the intimacy of their homes the Key service will test the limits of privacy.

然而,隨著亞馬遜利用其智能家居設(shè)備,讓自己更深入地融入到顧客的日常生活,允許陌生人進入顧客家里這樣的私密環(huán)境,Key服務(wù)將試探隱私的極限。

By combining its new Cloud Cam with smart locks from Yale and Kwikset in a $250 bundle, Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to allow delivery personnel into their homes with “no passcodes, no fuss”, the company promised.

通過以250美元的價格將其新的Cloud Cam攝像機與Yale和Kwikset的兩款智能門鎖捆綁銷售,亞馬遜承諾,其Prime會員將可以讓快遞員“無密碼、沒有大動靜地”進入自己的家。

Customers can track the package drop-off and watch a video of the delivery through Amazon’s app. Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa, can be used to call up video from the Cloud Cam, which costs $120 by itself.

顧客可以追蹤包裹的投遞,并通過亞馬遜的App觀看送貨視頻。亞馬遜的虛擬助手Alexa可以用來從Cloud Cam調(diào)取視頻,這款攝像機本身的價格是120美元。

The Key system launch shows how Amazon is using its hardware products to enable new kinds of services, while also competing with partners that tie into its Alexa platform. Cloud Cam is a low-priced rival to similar internet-connected security cameras from the likes of Alphabet’s Nest,Netgear and Samsung’s SmartThings, as well as start-ups such as Ring and Canary.

Key系統(tǒng)的推出展現(xiàn)了亞馬遜如何利用其硬件產(chǎn)品實現(xiàn)新型服務(wù),同時與依托其Alexa平臺的合作伙伴展開競爭。對于類似的聯(lián)網(wǎng)安全攝像機,如Alphabet的監(jiān)控攝像頭Nest、美國網(wǎng)件(Netgear)以及三星(Samsung)的SmartThings,以及像Ring和Canary之類初創(chuàng)企業(yè)的產(chǎn)品,亞馬遜的Cloud Cam是一款價格低廉的競爭對手。

“Amazon is moving quickly to round out its device portfolio in smart home,” said Martin Garner, analyst at CCS Insight.
