菲律賓拳王帕奎奧因反同性戀言論而遭耐克解約

　　Manny Pacquiao says that he respects Nike'sdecision to sever ties with him over his commentsabout gay relationships but remains opposed tosame-sex marriage and added he's happy that "a lotof people were alarmed by the truth".

　　菲律賓拳王曼尼·帕奎奧近日表示，他理解耐克公司因自己抨擊同性戀的言論而選擇解約這一決定，但是自己仍對同性婚姻持反對態(tài)度。帕奎奧還說，看到"真話令許多人震驚"，他感到很欣慰。

　　Nike said on Wednesday that it will no longer haveany business dealings with the former Filipino worldchampion, adding that it found his comments "abhorrent." Nike says it strongly opposes anykind of discrimination.

　　本周三，耐克宣布終止了和這位菲律賓前世界冠軍所有的商業(yè)合作，并認(rèn)為帕奎奧的言論"令人無法忍受"。耐克公司表示，該公司強烈反對任何形式的歧視。

　　"Whatever decision Nike makes is its decision and I respect that and its sponsorship of menow only involves my clothes for my fight," Pacquiao told reporters on Thursday. "Our contracthas already ended aside from sponsoring the boxing."

　　帕奎奧本周四告訴記者："無論耐克公司做出什么決定，我都表示尊重?，F(xiàn)在耐克只贊助我的比賽服。除了拳擊方面的贊助，我和耐克的合同已經(jīng)終止了。"

　　Pacquiao is an evangelical Christian and has publicly declared his opposition to same-sexunions. "It's just common sense," Pacquiao said in an interview earlier this week. "Have youseen any animal having male-to-male or female-to-female relations?" Animals, he said, werebetter because they recognize gender differences, and "if you have male-to-male or female-to-female, then people are worse than animals."

　　Among those who reacted strongly were popular gay celebrities in the Philippines some ofwhom declared they have lost their respect for the fighter.

　　Even his American boxing promoter Bob Arum has criticized Pacquiao. "What he's saying isdiametrically opposed to what I believe," said Arum, who is promoting Pacquiao's upcomingfight with Timothy Bradley. "I'm in favor of gay rights and same-sex marriage. I'm apologeticpersonally to the gay movement in the United States."

　　Pacquiao added he did not intend to condemn gay people. "I am not condemning the LGBT,"Pacquiao said. "What I am condemning is the act. I'm happier because I'm telling the truth. It'sworse if we will hide the truth," he said. I'm happier that a lot of people were alarmed by thetruth."

　　帕奎奧后來補充說道，自己的本意并非譴責(zé)同性戀群體。"我譴責(zé)的不是同性戀群體，而是同性戀愛的行為。我很欣慰自己講了真話，一味掩蓋事實只會令事情越來越糟。更令我欣慰的是，我講的真話觸動了許多人。"
