1. contrive

vt. 策劃;設(shè)計(jì)，發(fā)明;創(chuàng)造;設(shè)法做到;

vi. 計(jì)劃或謀劃;

[例句]The oil companies were accused of contriving a shortage of gasoline to justify price increases.

石油公司被控故意制造石油短缺以名正言順地提高油價(jià)。

2. controversy

n. 論戰(zhàn);公開辯論;

[例句]The proposed cuts have caused considerable controversy.

削減開支的提議引起了諸多爭(zhēng)議。

3. convention

n. 會(huì)議;全體與會(huì)者;國(guó)際公約;慣例，習(xí)俗，規(guī)矩;

[例句]It's just a social convention that men don't wear skirts.

男人不穿裙子只是一種社會(huì)習(xí)俗。

4. convert

vt. (使)轉(zhuǎn)變;使皈依;兌換，換算;侵占;

vi. 經(jīng)過(guò)轉(zhuǎn)變;被改變;[橄欖球]觸地得分后得附加分;

n. 皈依者;改變宗教信仰者;

[例句]The signal will be converted into digital code.

信號(hào)會(huì)被轉(zhuǎn)變?yōu)閿?shù)字代碼。

5. convey

vt. 表達(dá);傳達(dá)，傳遞;運(yùn)送，輸送;[法]讓與，轉(zhuǎn)讓(財(cái)產(chǎn)等);

[例句]When I returned home, I tried to convey the wonder of this machine to my husband.

6. convict

vt. 宣判有罪;證明…有罪;使知罪;定…的罪;

n. 罪犯;

[例句]In 1977 he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

7. coordinate

9. correspond

vi. 相應(yīng);通信;符合，一致;

[例句]Racegoers will be given a number which will correspond to a horse running in a race.

觀看賽馬比賽的觀眾將獲得一個(gè)與某一匹賽馬相對(duì)應(yīng)的號(hào)碼。

10. correspondent

n. 通訊員，記者;通信者;

[例句]Our British Affairs correspondent reports on how the three contenders reacted to the news of the resignation.

我們的“英國(guó)國(guó)內(nèi)事務(wù)”記者報(bào)道了3名競(jìng)爭(zhēng)者對(duì)辭職消息的反應(yīng)。

11. corrode

vt. 使腐蝕，侵蝕;

12. corrupt

14. course

n. 課程;航線;行動(dòng)方向;一道菜;

vt. 快速地流動(dòng);奔流;跑過(guò);追逐;

vi. 沿…(方向)前進(jìn);指引航線;快跑;迅速移動(dòng);

[例句]Aircraft can avoid each other by going up and down, as well as by altering course to left or right.

15. courtesy

n. 承蒙;謙恭有禮，禮貌，請(qǐng)安;有禮貌的舉止[言詞];
