將“剩男剩女”翻譯成leftover women and men，帶有明顯的貶義，因為leftover一詞的意思是“吃剩的食物，殘羹剩飯”，不過中文原詞也是帶有貶義的。“剩男剩女”指的是大齡未婚男女青年，因為到了婚嫁年齡卻還單身，所以被認(rèn)為是“剩下了”。那些接近expiry date的“準(zhǔn)剩男剩女”也有一個稱號，就是doomed single(必?？?。
