英語諺語中的性別歧視——性格弱點具體表現(xiàn)
(1)女人是脆弱的
Frailty , thy name is woman.
(脆弱啊，你的名字是女人。)
Woman is made to weep. (女人生性愛流淚。)
A woman and a glass are ever in danger. (女人易毀，玻璃易碎。)
A woman is the weaker vessel. (女人是易碎的器皿。)

在世人眼里，女人天生是弱者，軟弱、愛慕虛榮、善變、饒舌、惡毒、愚昧、缺乏判斷力等總被認(rèn)為是女人與生俱來的性格弱點，而英語詞women也就具有了“脆弱、自卑、反復(fù)無常、愛虛榮、輕佻、膚淺、愛說閑話”等貶低女性的內(nèi)涵意義。
