作為電影「飛越蘇聯(lián)」《White Nights》的主題曲。電影敘述一位原蘇聯(lián)芭蕾舞男演員和一位美國黑人踢踏舞演員在策劃出逃時結(jié)下的友誼。這首歌是在影片結(jié)束時唱的。相比電影本身的默默無聞，作為主題曲的《Say you say me》卻是享譽(yù)世界。
只要人人都獻(xiàn)出一份愛，這世界就會更加美好，可以說這是首歌的主題思想。世界原本該這樣：大家說說笑笑，談?wù)撃阄宜喽嘟涣?，而歌中所唱的現(xiàn)實(shí)是：人們戴著假面具生活，在黑暗中玩著游戲，互不吐真情，游戲生活，互不信任，猜疑之墻林立，在這樣的墻后終有人在大聲呼吁真誠。歌中還唱道：當(dāng)我們走上人生的孤寂之路時似乎人世間最難的是找到朋友，一兩個通情達(dá)理、樂于為你指路的朋友。所以歌詞作者呼喚人間真情，這當(dāng)然首先要求大家互訴衷腸，既信任別人又信任自己。
