This Woman Made A ‘Raw’ Turkey Cake To Trick Her Family On Thanksgiving

Some call her the baker from hell, others – a diabolical genius, but one thing is for sure – Sarah Hardy has one hell of a talent. This British baker makes the most unique, goriest, craziest and weirdest cakes and chocolates you’ve ever seen. Do you want chocolate that looks like a human brain? You got it! Fancy something sweet that looks just like a pig’s heart? “I love what I do. I get to be curious and create intriguing things out of delicious chocolate and this makes me happy. I get to make things that look like things that aren’t tasty… and then they are tasty. It’s a definite thing,” Sarah writes on her official page The Edible Museum.

Although Sarah name has been known for a long time to those that are into baking, she just recently went viral with her raw turkey cake. It sounds just as it looks – pretty revolting, but, God, oh-so-cool!

Ceci n’est pas une Thanksgiving turkey

As you probably already figured out, this turkey is not what it seems, because this slightly repulsive-looking raw bird is actually a meticulously decorated cake. It is made from four layers of sponge layered with buttercream icing that gives the cake a realistic pinkish skin tone.

It looks like one, but it’s actually a delicious (we assume) cake

“When you’re buying a chocolate or a cake, you tend to be giving it to someone as a present and you want to give them an experience, not just a taste experience but the experience of surprise and a little bit of joy as well. But most of the ideas are just things that I love. I’m just interested in natural history, internal organs, historical artifacts. If I like it and it’s cool, I’ll just make it edible,” the baker told Art Insider.

It’s made by Sarah – a baker based in the UK who takes on the craziest baking projects

The cake not only looks amazing, but it is actually (and understandably) quite hard to make. The process of making one can take days and would cost over $600 to order.

One of which is this raw turkey cake

To give the impression of plucked skin, Sarah makes small dots of marzipan all over the cake. It is the final layer on the turkey, after which Sarah puts a string around the turkey’s legs and paints some more details with a food dye. Just before serving, a syrup is glazed on the cake to give it a shiny appearance.
