Instagram is full of holiday snaps that make us feel, well, like failures.

Instagram

One type of photograph that does this is the extreme camping shot - taken by intrepid travelers keen to let us know that they've spent the night in a dangerous location. Some have even used Photoshop to do the job, it would seem.

But one disgruntled user has decided to call them out - by questioning whether they really did sleep somewhere dangerous, or whether, actually, they took a quick set-up shot and spent the night somewhere more relaxing.

It's called #YouDidNotSleepThere and it has attracted more than 40,000 followers - and raised plenty of laughs along the way.

Run by a 28-year-old Canadian called Luisa, it has one message for those who post pictures of tents and hammocks in precarious places - you're just being cliched. Describing itself as 'celebrating Instagram's most illogical campsites', it boasts more than 200 uploads.

Luisa's top three cliches are 'crazy long exposure shots', 'camping really close to water' and 'hammocks in ridiculous places', according to fieldmag.com.

These two young men are on a seabed with a tent, table, laptop and chair in a snap that may well have taken the owner of the #YouDidNotSleepThere account to the depths of despair.

This user appears to have spent the night next to one of the world's most famous landmarks. Is it amazing - or just tiresome?

Apparently, this young couple hung their tent over the Grand Canyon at sunset. One commenter said 'good luck getting out of that tent'.

A man can be seen perched on the edge of a cliff-face as he relaxes in a sleeping bag. It's clearly a genuine shot and he's obviously strong in the derring-do department - but did he really spend the night there?

Account holder Luisa captioned this: 'Shoot for the moon cause if you miss you'll land in Central Park' .

One user claims to have successfully scaled this dizzying height and spent the night under the stars. An amazing picture - but how long did the subject spend there? That's another matter.
