中共英雄雷鋒并不受美國(guó)軍校學(xué)員喜愛(ài)

Beijing (AFP) - A former Chinese journalist hasadmitted falling for an April Fool joke which sparked adecades-long myth in his country -- that US officercadets learnt from the example of Communistmilitary hero Lei Feng.

北京(法新社)——一名退休的中國(guó)記者承認(rèn)自己愚人節(jié)的一個(gè)玩笑成就了中國(guó)幾十年來(lái)的一個(gè)虛構(gòu)神話——即美國(guó)軍校學(xué)員向中國(guó)的軍隊(duì)英雄雷鋒學(xué)習(xí)。

 

 

Li Zhurun, a former reporter for China's official Xinhua news agency who is now a universityprofessor, made the confession on his Sina Weibo microblog.

李竹潤(rùn)，新華社之前的一名記者，現(xiàn)在則是一名大學(xué)教授，在自己的新浪微博上承認(rèn)了這一點(diǎn)。

Ever since Communist China's supreme leader Mao Zedong recognised Lei Feng for his humbleheroism, said to include washinghis comrades' uniforms and giving his pay to the needy,authorities have encouraged citizens to do good and follow his example.

自從中共領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人毛澤東贊揚(yáng)雷鋒謙遜的英雄主義以來(lái)——據(jù)說(shuō)他為自己的同志洗制服，還把自己工資給那些需要的人——當(dāng)局就一直鼓勵(lì)人們向他學(xué)習(xí)。

While China's increasingly media-savvy population has come to question the authenticity ofthe Lei Feng story, the folk hero remains popular in some quarters. Pictures of him wearing histrademark earflap army hat have become a pop icon emblazoned on everything frombags tocups.

雖然有越來(lái)越多的中國(guó)網(wǎng)名開(kāi)始質(zhì)疑雷鋒故事的真實(shí)性，但是這位大眾英雄在某些地方還是很受人們待見(jiàn)。他穿護(hù)耳軍帽的形象被印在了很多事物上，從包包到杯子。

 

 

In his posting, Li said he had been duped by an unspecified Western news outlet, whichreported on April Fool's Day 1981 that the West Point military academy in New York Statehadheld up the People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldier as an example for all students.

"I was young at the time, and I didn't know that Western media of ten invent 'news' on AprilFool's Day," Liwrote.

The state-run China Daily newspaper on Tuesday identified the Western outlet as the UnitedPress International news agency. But it was not clear where Li was based at the time, or who hewrote the story for.

《中國(guó)日?qǐng)?bào)》周二確認(rèn)說(shuō)這家西方媒體正是美國(guó)合眾國(guó)際新聞社。但不清楚李當(dāng)時(shí)派駐在哪里以及他為誰(shuí)寫(xiě)這篇報(bào)道。

Over the past three decades, the West Point myth has become so entrenched in Chinathateven a member of the country's advisory discussion body, the Chinese People's PoliticalConsultative Conference (CPPCC), cited it in a 2009 proposalurging Beijingto apply for UNESCOrecognition of the "Lei Feng Spirit".

過(guò)去三十年來(lái)，西點(diǎn)軍校的這個(gè)神話深扎在中國(guó)，以至于一名中國(guó)政協(xié)委員在2009年的時(shí)候還敦促北京讓聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織承認(rèn)“雷鋒精神”。

"At America's famous West Point, Lei Feng's portrait is among five hanging in the hall, and theacademy's code of student conduct includes his famous quote: 'Human life is limited, butservingthe people is limitless,'" CPPCC member Liu Jianglong said, according to the ChongqingMorning Post.

《重慶晨報(bào)》報(bào)道說(shuō)，當(dāng)時(shí)的政協(xié)委員劉江龍說(shuō)：“在美國(guó)著名的西點(diǎn)軍校，雷鋒的形象是掛在大廳中的五幅之一，而該學(xué)院的學(xué)生行為準(zhǔn)則中就包括了他的名言：‘人的生命是有限的，但是服務(wù)人民的這份事業(yè)是無(wú)限的。'”
