"Bless my soul," whispered the old bartender, "Harry Potter... what an honor." He hurried out from behind the bar, rushed toward Harry and seized his hand, tears in his eyes. "Welcome back, Mr.Potter, welcome back." Harry didn't know what to say, everyone was looking at him, the old woman with the pipe was puffing on it without realizing it had gone out. Hagrid was beaming. Then there was a great scraping of chairs and the next moment, Harry found himself shaking hands with everyone in the Leaky Cauldron.

“我的天哪，”老酒保低聲說，“哈利·波特……多大的榮幸啊。”他從吧臺后面快步走出來，沖向哈利，抓住他的手，眼里噙滿了淚水。“歡迎回來，波特先生，歡迎回來?！惫恢涝撜f什么，大家都在看著他，那個(gè)拿著煙斗的老婦人抽著煙，卻沒有意識到煙斗已經(jīng)滅了。海格笑容滿面。然后傳來一陣椅子刮擦的聲音，下一刻，哈利發(fā)現(xiàn)自己正在和破釜酒吧里的每個(gè)人握手。

"Doris Crockford, Mr.Potter, can't believe I'm meeting you at last." "So proud, Mr.Potter, I'm just so proud." "Always wanted to shake your hand— I'm all of a flutter." "Delighted, Mr.Potter, just can't tell you, Diggle's the name, Dedalus Diggle." "I've seen you before! "  said Harry, as Dedalus Diggle's top hat fell off in his excitement. "You bowed to me once in a shop." "He remembers!" cried Dedalus Diggle, looking around at everyone. "Did you hear that?He remembers me!" 

“多麗絲·克羅克福德，波特先生，真不敢相信我終于見到你了?！薄疤院懒耍ㄌ叵壬?，我太自豪了?！薄耙恢毕牒湍阄帐帧壹訕O了。”“很高興遇到你，波特先生，我激動的說不出話，我叫迪格爾，德達(dá)洛斯·迪格爾?！薄拔乙郧耙娺^你！”哈利說，德達(dá)洛斯·迪格爾的禮帽因?yàn)榕d奮而掉了下來?！澳阍谝患疑痰昀锵蛭揖瞎！薄八浀?！”德達(dá)洛斯·迪格爾環(huán)顧四周，喊道?！澳懵牭搅藛?？他記得我！”

Harry shook hands again and again — Doris Crockford kept coming back for more. A pale young man made his way forward, very nervously,one of his eyes was twitching. "Professor Quirrell!" said Hagrid. "Harry, Professor Quirrell will be one of your teachers at Hogwarts." "P-P-Potter," stammered Professor Quirrell, grasping Harry's hand, "c-can't t-tell you how p- pleased I am to meet you." "What sort of magic do you teach, Professor Quirrell?" "D-Defense Against the D-D-Dark Arts," muttered Professor Quirrell, as though he'd rather not think about it.

哈利一次又一次地握手——多麗絲·克羅克福德不停地回來要握更多。一個(gè)臉色蒼白的年輕人非常緊張地走上前來，一只眼睛在抽搐。“奇洛教授！”海格說?！肮?，奇洛教授將成為你在霍格沃茨的老師之一。”“波...波特，”奇洛教授結(jié)結(jié)巴巴地說，握住哈利的手，“無法…無法告訴你我有多高…高興見到你?！薄捌媛褰淌?，你教什么魔法？” “黑…黑魔法防、防御術(shù)，”奇洛教授嘟囔著，好像他不想去想這件事。

"N-not that you n-need it, eh, P-P-Potter?" He laughed nervously. "You'll be g-getting all your equipment, I suppose? I've g-got to p-pick up a new b-book on vampires, m-myself."  He looked terrified at the very thought. But the others wouldn't let Professor Quirrell keep Harry to himself. It took almost ten minutes to get away from them all.

 “但你不…不需要…要它，不是嗎，波…波特？”他緊張地笑了?！拔蚁?，你…你已經(jīng)具…具備防御黑魔法的…的能力了？我得去拿…拿一本關(guān)于吸血鬼…鬼的新書。”他看起來很害怕。但其他人不會讓奇洛教授把哈利一直說話。哈利花了將近十分鐘才從他們身邊走出。

At last, Hagrid managed to make himself heard over the babble. "Must get on— lots to buy Come on, Harry." Doris Crockford shook Harry's hand one last time, and Hagrid led them through the bar and out into a small, walled courtyard, where there was nothing but a trash can and a few weeds. Hagrid grinned at Harry. "Told you, didn't I? Told you you was famous. Even Professor Quirrell was tremblin' ter meet you— mind you, he's usually tremblin'." "Is he always that nervous?"

最后，海格在嘈雜中努力讓自己被聽到：“我們得走了——有很多東西要買，快點(diǎn)，哈利?！倍帑惤z·克羅克福德最后一次握了握哈利的手，海格領(lǐng)著他們穿過酒吧，來到一個(gè)有圍墻的小庭院里，那里除了一個(gè)垃圾桶和幾棵雜草什么也沒有。海格對哈利咧嘴一笑。 “我告訴你了，不是嗎？你很有名。就連奇洛教授見到你都顫抖不已——不過他通常都是顫抖的?！薄八偸沁@么緊張嗎？”

"Oh, yeah. Poor bloke. Brilliant mind. He was fine while he was studyin' outta books but then he took a year off ter get some firsthand experience.... They say he met vampires in the Black Forest, and there was a nasty bit o' trouble with a hag— never been the same since. Scared of the students, scared of his own subject now. Where's me umbrella?" Vampires? Hags? Harry's head was swimming.  Hagrid, meanwhile, was counting bricks in the wall above the trash can. "Three up... two across..." He muttered. "Right, stand back, Harry." 

“哦，是的，可憐的家伙，他明明聰明的頭腦。他讀書的時(shí)候還好，但后來他休假一年想去獲得一些第一手的經(jīng)驗(yàn)……據(jù)說他在黑森林遇到了吸血鬼，還和一個(gè)女巫產(chǎn)生了一些麻煩——從那以后就再也不一樣了，害怕學(xué)生，害怕自己的學(xué)科。我的傘呢？”吸血鬼？女巫？哈利頭暈?zāi)垦?。與此同時(shí)，海格正在數(shù)著垃圾桶上方墻上的磚頭?！叭龎K向上……橫穿兩塊……”他喃喃自語?！昂茫笸?，哈利。”

He tapped the wall three times with the point of his umbrella. The brick he had touched quivered— it wriggled— in the middle, asmall hole appeared— it grew wider and wider— a second later they were facing an archway large enough even for Hagrid, an archway onto a cobbled street that twisted and turned out of sight. "Welcome," said Hagrid, "to Diagon Alley." He grinned at Harry's amazement.

他用傘尖敲了三下墻。他碰過的磚塊顫動起來——扭動起來——中間出現(xiàn)了一個(gè)小洞——洞越來越大——一秒鐘后，他們面對著一座連海格都能通過的拱門，拱門通向一條蜿蜒曲折、看不見的鵝卵石街道?！皻g迎來到對角巷，”海格說。他看著哈利的驚訝，咧嘴一笑。
