1　how long 是對具體的時間長度和物體長度提問，意為“多長”。

How long will you stay in the south? 你要在南方待多長時間？

I really don't know how long I can own the shop. 我真說不清我能擁有這個店多久。

He will stay here for two weeks . 他要在這里待兩周 。

How long will he stay here? 他要在這里待多久 ?

The path is 500 meters long. 這條小路500米長 。

How long is the path? 這條小路有多長 ?

2　how far 是對距離提問，意為“多遠”。

The school is two miles from here? 那所學(xué)校離這里2英里 。

How far is the school from here？那所學(xué)校離這里多遠？

How far can you swim? 你能游多遠？

3　how often 是對在某一特定時間進行某個動作的次數(shù)或頻繁的程度提問，意為“多長時間一次，多久一次”，答語通常是表示頻度的詞，如never, sometimes, once a week, three times a month等。

I go there once a month . 我一個月去那里一次 。

How often do you go there? 你多長時間去那里一次 ?

She takes the medicine three times a day . 她一天吃三次藥 。

How often does she take the medicine? 她一天吃多少次藥 ?

How often do you go downtown? 你多久進趟城啊？

4　how soon 中的soon意為“早，快”(early, quickly)，how soon 意為“多早，多快”，指多早或多快能做完一件事情或結(jié)束一件事，一般譯為“什么時候，多久”。

How soon will he return？他多久才能回來？（不可用how long ）

How soon can you be ready？你什么時候才能準備好？

How soon can he finish the work？他多久才能完成這項工作？

How soon will you inform us of your decision? 你要多長時間才會告訴我們你的決定？

5　how 單獨使用時可以提問：①身體狀況，②方式方法，③程度。

He is ill . 他病了 。

How is he? 他身體怎樣 ?

She came by ship . 她乘船來的 。

How did she come? 她怎樣來的 ?

He studies very hard . 他學(xué)習(xí)非常努力 。

How does he study? 他學(xué)習(xí)怎么樣 ?
