241　so that, so...that和such that

1　so that 是用作連詞的短語，因此不可分開，可以引導目的狀語從句和結果狀語從句，意為“為的是，以便”。

Speak a little louder so that they can hear you clearly. 講話聲音大些，以便他們能聽清楚。（目的狀語從句 ）

She got up early so that she could catch the train. 她起床早，為的是能趕上火車。（目的狀語從句 ）

He was ill,so that he was unable to go with you. 他病了，不能和你一道去了。（結果狀語從句，前面常用逗號同主句隔開 ）

Tom came late, so that he did not see her. 湯姆來遲了，結果沒有見到她。（結果狀語從句）

2　so...that 意為“如此……以致，那樣……以致”，so 后跟形容詞或副詞，that引導結果狀語從句。

He was so ill that they had to send for the doctor. 他病得那樣重，他們不得不請醫(yī)生。

He ran so fast that no one could catch him. 他跑得那樣快，以致沒有人能抓住他。

①如果so...that是否定句，可以轉換為too...to句型，表示“太……不能”。如果句中的主句主語和從句主語不是同一人，就要在不定式前加for sb.，作不定式的邏輯主語。

He is so young that he can't join the army. 他年齡太小，不能參軍。

he is too young to join the army.

The box is so heavy that I can't carry it.

The box is too heavy for me to carry .

這箱子太重了，我搬不動。（注意，原句的it必須去掉）

②so可以單獨用在句子開頭，表示根據(jù)上面的情況會有如下的結果，意為“如此，這么說”。

So you won't come, will you？這么說你不來了，是嗎？

3　such...that 結構中such 后應接名詞，即such+名詞+that從句，that從句表示結果。

It is such an interesting film that I want to see it again. 這部電影極為有趣，我想再看一遍。

It's such an important meeting that we can't miss it. 這個會議如此重要，我們不能不去。
