227　too much, much too, too many和very much

1　too much 本結(jié)構(gòu)中的much是形容詞，意為“許多，大量的”，too修飾形容詞原級much，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，所以much是中心詞，too是much的狀語。

（1）too much可以單獨使用，作主語或賓語，意為“太多”，這時，much為名詞。too much也可作狀語，表示“過多，太多”，修飾動詞。

（2）too much也可修飾不可數(shù)名詞，意為“太多的”，這時much為形容詞。

If you eat too much , you will get fat. 如果你吃得太多，就會發(fā)胖。

He has too much work to do. 他有太多的工作要做。

Don't drink too much wine. 不要喝太多的酒。

Watching TV too much is bad for your health. 看電視過多對身體有害。

2　much too 結(jié)構(gòu)中的too是副詞，意為“太”，much修飾too，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，所以too是中心詞，much是too的狀語。much too 不可單獨使用，后面要跟形容詞或副詞原級。

It is much too cold today. 今天太冷了。（比too cold更強(qiáng)調(diào) ）

The shirt is much too dear. 這件襯衫太貴了。

The little boy walked much too slow. 這小男孩走得太慢了。

He is much too strict with the students. （正）他對學(xué)生的要求太嚴(yán)格了 。

He is too much strict with the students. （誤）

3　too many 作形容詞用，修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)。

He failed his exam because he missed too many lessons. 他沒考及格，因為他缺課太多。

There are too many people waiting for the bus there. 那里有太多的人在等公交車。

4　very much 意為“非常，很”，為副詞短語，修飾動詞，表示程度。

I like the book very much . 我非常喜歡這本書。
