132　dead, deadly, death, deathly和die

1　dead 是形容詞，意為“死的，無生命的”，表示狀態(tài)，可同表示一段時間的狀語連用。

The cat is dead . 那只貓死了。

She has been dead for five years. 她去世已經(jīng)5年了。

There are dead leaves here and there. 到處都是枯葉。

2　deadly 作形容詞用時，意為“致命的”，也可作副詞，意為“非?！?。

The deadly disease is under the control now. 那致命的疾病現(xiàn)已得到控制。

She was deadly tired. 她疲憊極了。

3　death 是名詞，意為“死，死亡”。

Her death is a great loss to them. 她的死對他們是一個極大的損失。

He was beaten to death . 他被打死了。

She lived in poverty from birth to death . 她一生貧窮。

Most people fear death . 大多數(shù)人怕死。

4　deathly 作形容詞表示“像死一樣的”，作副詞表示“死一般地，非常地”。
