51　both的用法

1　both 應(yīng)放在be動詞、助動詞和情態(tài)動詞的后面，但要放在行為動詞的前面。

They are both students. （正）他們倆都是學(xué)生 。

They both are students. （誤）

2　both 可以直接修飾名詞，如both workers（兩個工人），both brother and sister（兄妹倆）。但是，如果both 和定冠詞、形容詞性物主代詞、數(shù)詞共同修飾名詞，結(jié)構(gòu)為：both +修飾詞+名詞。

both the workers那兩個工人

both my feet我的兩只腳

both the two brothers那兄弟倆

both her hands她的兩只手

Both the glasses are broken. （正）那兩只玻璃杯都破了 。

The both glasses are broken. （誤）

3　both 同主格代詞和賓格代詞連用時(shí)，要放在后面。

They both like the film. 他們兩人都喜歡這部電影。

He lent the books to them both . 他把書借給了他們兩人。

3　both of 后接代詞時(shí)，要用賓格，后接名詞時(shí)，名詞前必須有定冠詞、物主代詞所有格或其他表示特指意義的限定詞。

Both of them work in the factory. 他們倆都在這家工廠工作。（=They both work...）

Both of the books are hers. 這兩本書都是她的。（=The books are both...）

Both of his parents are doctors. 他父母都是醫(yī)生。（=His parents are both...）

Both of these story-books are worth reading. 這兩本故事書都值得讀。
