2　across, through, over, cross和past

1　across 和through 用作介詞，都可以表示“橫過”。但across 與on有關(guān)，表示某一動(dòng)作在某一物體的表面進(jìn)行；through 則與in有關(guān)，表示從某一空間穿過。

She walked across the road. 她橫穿馬路。

The river goes through the town. 這條河穿城而過。

They went in through the back door. 他們從后門進(jìn)去。（不能說 from the back door）

2 across 和over 都可以表示從某一平面上“穿過，到另一邊”，如大街、道路、橋、河流等。

They walked across/over the street. 他們穿過大街。

She went across/over the bridge. 她走過橋。

They are voyaging across the Pacific Ocean. 他們?cè)跈M渡太平洋。

　但over還可以表示從某個(gè)障礙物上“越過”，across則沒有這種用法。

He can jump over the wall. 他能夠跳過這堵墻。（不用 across）

3　across 和cross 都可以表示“穿過”，但across 是介詞，cross 則是及物動(dòng)詞。cross 可以作謂語，而across 不能作謂語。

She helped the old man walk across the road. 她幫助那位老人過馬路 。

She helped the old man cross the road.

He will swim across the river. 他將游過那條河 。

He will cross the river by ship. 他將乘船過河 。

比較

She went across the street. 她橫穿過大街。（指從大街的一邊走到另一邊）

She went through the street. 她走過街道。（指從大街的一頭走到另一頭）

4　past 作介詞表示“經(jīng)過”，指從旁邊經(jīng)過。

We go past the library every day. 我們每天都從圖書館旁經(jīng)過。

I saw a girl running past my window. 我看見一個(gè)女孩從我窗前跑過。

The bus drove past our school gate. 公共汽車從我們學(xué)校門前開過。
