The waves may rage, and the winds may roar,

海浪洶涌，狂風(fēng)咆哮，

But he fears not wreck, nor need;

但他并不擔(dān)心會遭遇海難，也無需多慮；

For he rides the sea, in its stormy strength,

因為他騎乘在大海之上，在它狂暴的勁道中，

As a strong man rides his steed.

像一位壯士騎著駿馬。

O the white sea-gull, the bold sea-gull,

啊，勇敢的白色海鷗，

He makes on the shore his nest,

And he tries what the inland fields may be;

But he loveth the sea the best!

And away from land, a thousand leagues,

And away to the North among ice-rocks stern,

And amid the frozen snow,

To a sea that is lone and desolate,

Will the wanton sea-gull go.

任海鷗恣意飛翔。

For he careth not for the winter wild,

Nor those desert regions chill;

In the midst of the cold, as on calm blue seas,
