萬圣節(jié)馬上就要到了，那么有關(guān)萬圣節(jié)的文化你又了解多少呢?今天，Alan老師和翩翩老師就和童鞋們聊一聊：有關(guān)萬圣節(jié)的一些相關(guān)話題。

1. 萬圣節(jié)為什么叫 Halloween?

The word Halloween is a shortening of AII Hallows' Evening 原來 Halloween 是 All Hallows’ Evening

的簡寫.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. 萬圣節(jié)是在10月31日晚上慶祝的節(jié)日.

celebrate： 慶祝

on the night of October 31: 在10月31號晚上

指在某一天 / 某一天的上午，下午，晚上

on Monday 周一 / on Sunday afternoon 周六下午 / on the night of October 31

in

時間范圍大：in January 在一月 / in winter 在冬季 / in 2018

泛指在上午，下午，晚上。如：in the morning 上午 / in the daytime 在白天

at

時間最短，一般表示時間點，如at six o’clock, at three thirty.

習(xí)慣用法：at night晚上 / at noon中午 / at this time of year一年里的這個時候

2. 萬圣節(jié)那天外國友人們都在做什么呢?

在美國，他們當(dāng)然不會放過一個舉辦 Party 的好日子啦!會舉辦一些化妝舞會(masquerade party / masquerade ball)，除了party,還有哪些傳統(tǒng)活動呢?

Traditional activities: 傳統(tǒng)的活動

trick-or-treating： 不給糖就搗亂

bonfires ：篝火

costume parties ：化妝晚會

haunted houses： 鬼屋

The house is haunted. 這間屋子鬧鬼

carve: 雕刻

jack-o-lanterns：空心南瓜燈

Some families carve lanterns with scary faces out of pumpkins 。These were traditionally intended to ward off evil spirits.

有些家庭會把南瓜或者其他蔬菜挖空，在上面雕刻”鬼臉”，這樣做是為了抵御惡魔

If you are at home on Halloween, it is a good idea to have a bowl of small presents or sweets to offer to anyone who knock on your door.

如果萬圣節(jié)那天你在家，在碗里裝些小禮物或者糖果來打發(fā)那些敲門的人.

This will help you to please(取悅) the little spirits(小精靈，指來敲門的小孩們) in your neighborhood(家附近的社區(qū))!

3. 萬圣節(jié)的化裝游行：Halloween parade!

重頭戲來了，大家準(zhǔn)備好流量

中世紀(jì)，人們穿上動物造型的服飾、戴上可怕的面具是為了在萬圣節(jié)前夜驅(qū)趕黑夜中的鬼怪(ward off evil spirits)。But now, Halloween is getting commercialized, costumes started to appear in stores.萬圣節(jié)開始變得商業(yè)化, 萬圣節(jié)服飾開始在各大商店出現(xiàn)

這個節(jié)日在美國是全民慶祝嗎?

在美國，有些基督徒是不過萬圣節(jié)。但現(xiàn)在過萬圣節(jié)的方式和之前有所不同，現(xiàn)在更趨于商業(yè)化。所以大多過萬圣節(jié)的美國基督徒更喜歡把萬圣節(jié)稱為秋天的節(jié)日( the fall festival )。

4 . 在中國，咱們有哪些鬼節(jié)呢?

中國農(nóng)歷( lunar calendar ) 有三大鬼節(jié)：清明、中元、寒衣。但是我們不會celebrate， 很多人會去visit the grave(上墳)，或者 burn paper money for the dead(燒紙)

我們中國受儒家思想(confucian thoughts)影響很深，孔子(Confucius)說:不談?wù)撃切﹕upernatural force(超自然的力量)

翩翩有段時間比較敏感，一到鬼節(jié)前后幾天就會夢魘( have nightmares around those days )，后來對信仰開始認真堅定后就再也沒這樣過。
