May: Excuse me. I'd like some information on how to get
into an American university.
梅：勞駕。我想了解一下，怎樣才能進(jìn)入美國(guó)的大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)。
Counsellor: Well, first, you write and get an application form. Then. you send it in with a copy of your school
records and an affidavit of support.
顧問：好的。首先你得寫信索取一份申請(qǐng)表。然后把填好的表連同你的學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)單的復(fù)印件及一份經(jīng)濟(jì)擔(dān)保書一起寄去。
May: And do I need to take any tests?
梅：我需要參加什么考試嗎？
Counsellor: Yes, you have to take TOEFL.
顧問：要的，你必須參加托?？荚嚒?br /> May: And what about the visa? When can I apply for it?

Counsellor: Well, you can't apply for the visa until you get a letter of acceptance and an l-20 form from a university.

May: I see. And one more thing. Are foreign sts
allowed to work in the States?

Counsellor: They'll only let you work in summer. And you'll need to get permission from the U.S. Office of Immigration
to do that. During the school year. you're not allowed
to work unless the work experience is part of your school program.

留學(xué)美國(guó)的4個(gè)基本要求

很多人都向往去國(guó)外留學(xué)，尤其是留學(xué)美國(guó)。但事實(shí)上留學(xué)并不是一件很容易的事情，下面我們一起來看看留學(xué)美國(guó)都有哪些基本要求：
學(xué)歷要求（academic background）
對(duì)于中國(guó)學(xué)生來說，申讀美國(guó)大學(xué)本科課程至少要高中畢業(yè)，申讀碩士課程要本科畢業(yè)，并擁有學(xué)士學(xué)位。申請(qǐng)學(xué)校和專業(yè)時(shí)應(yīng)盡量符合個(gè)人的教育背景、工作經(jīng)歷及興趣愛好。
英語(yǔ)要求( English level)
美國(guó)大學(xué)都要求學(xué)生在申請(qǐng)時(shí)提供英語(yǔ)成績(jī)，基本要求為：申讀本科，托福（Test of English as a Foreign Language）英語(yǔ)作為外國(guó)語(yǔ)的考試）不得低干500分。申讀研究生，不僅要求托福550分以上，可能還需要提供其他相關(guān)成績(jī)，如理工科、文科及數(shù)學(xué)專業(yè)要求提供GRE（Graduate Record Examination．美國(guó)研究生入學(xué)考試）成績(jī)，商科專業(yè)要求提供GMAT( Graduate Management Admissions Test，管理學(xué)研究生入學(xué)資格考試）成績(jī)，醫(yī)科專業(yè)要求提供MCAT(Medical College Admissions Test，醫(yī)學(xué)院入學(xué)考試）成績(jī)，法律專業(yè)要求提供LSAT（Law School Admissions Test，法學(xué)院校入學(xué)考試）成績(jī)等。
經(jīng)濟(jì)要求( financial condition)
由于學(xué)校和專業(yè)不同，美國(guó)大學(xué)的學(xué)費(fèi)相差很大。一般來說，社區(qū)大學(xué)（community university）的學(xué)費(fèi)為每年2000美元左右，而有些優(yōu)秀的私立大學(xué)（private university）每年的學(xué)費(fèi)和膳宿費(fèi)高達(dá)28000美元。
簽證要求( visa)
赴美留學(xué)的簽證要求較高，除具備良好的學(xué)歷及專業(yè)背景外，是否獲得獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金( scholarship)也是獲簽與否的一個(gè)重要因素。若能獲得美國(guó)大學(xué)的獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金則可以在很大程度上增加獲簽的機(jī)率。
