73 接動名詞和接動詞不定式有區(qū)別的動詞 Track 073
在英語中，有很多動詞后接動名詞和接不定式作賓語均可，但在意思上往往有很大的差別，現將這樣的動詞分類歸納如下：
（1）在demand，deserve，need，require，want等動詞后，動名詞的主動形式表示被動含義，若改接不定式作賓語，則必須用不定式的被動形式
a. The garden needs watering / to be watered.
不說：The garden needs being watered.*
b. Your hair needs cutting / to be cut.
（2）與remember，forget，stop，go on和regret連用時，動名詞表示發(fā)生于這些動詞之前的事，不定式表示發(fā)生在謂語動詞之后的事
1）remember
remember doing sth.用英文可以解釋為remember/recall something that happened in the past，即“記得已做過某事”。
a. I still remember being taken to Beijing for the first time.
我還記得第一次被帶去北京的情景。
b. I don’t remember/recall locking my suitcase.
我不記得我鎖了行李箱。
remember to do sth.用英文可以解釋為remember to perform a responsibility,duty or task，即“記得需要履行職責或完成任務”。
c. Remember to go to the post office, won’t you?
記得去郵局，好嗎？
d. Remember to do some shopping after work.
下班記得去買東西。
e. Clint always remembers to turn off the lights when he leaves the room.
2）forget
forget doing sth.用英文可以解釋為forget something that happened in the past，即“忘記了已做過的某事”。如：
a. I forgot locking the door. So when I came back, I was surprised to find the door locked.
forget to do sth. 用英文可以解釋為forget to perform a responsibility,duty or task，即“忘記要做的事”。如：
b. As well as getting on everybody’s nerves, he’s got a habit of borrowing money and forgetting to pay it back.
3）stop
stop doing sth. 表示停下經常做的或手頭正在做的事，如：
a. I really must stop smoking.
我真的必須戒煙了。
stop to do sth. 表示中斷下來去做某事（通常為另一件事），如：
b. Stop to have a rest. 停下來休息下。（不定式作目的狀語，不作賓語。）
4）go on
go on doing sth. 表示繼續(xù)做一直在做的事，如：
a. The teacher went on explaining the text.
老師繼續(xù)講解課文。
b. Peter went on sleeping despite the noise.
go on to do sth. 表示繼續(xù)做另一件事，如：
a. He welcomed the new students and then went on to explain the college regulations.
他對新同學表示了歡迎，然后接著講校園里的規(guī)定。
b. Finishing the new words, the teacher went on to attack the text.
5）regret
regret doing sth. 用英文可以解釋為regret something that happened in the past，即“對已發(fā)生的事感到后悔”。如：
a. I don’t regret telling her what I thought, even if it upset her.
我并不后悔把自己的想法告訴她，盡管這讓她很惱火。
b. I regret letting slip that opportunity.
我真后悔錯失了那次機會。
c. I regret lending him so much money. He never paid me back.
我真后悔把那么多錢借給他，他從來沒還過。
d. Now he regrets not having gone to university.
regret to do sth. 用英文可以解釋為regret to say, to tell someone, or to inform someone of some bad news，即“遺憾地告訴或通知某人某個壞消息”。如：
e. We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you employment.
f.I regret to tell you that you failed the test.
我很遺憾地告訴你，你沒能通過考試。
g. We regret to inform you that the flight has been cancelled.
