詞組講解

1. do away with sb. or sth. ***殺掉，除掉；廢除，停止，取消

解 短語動詞；詞義溯源：做［除掉（away）］某人或某物的行為

例 The city ought to do away with some of these old laws that nobody follows and the police don't even enforce anymore. They're just adding pages to the law books.

2. do by sb. ***對待某人

解 〈口〉短語動詞；詞義溯源：［用某種方式（by）］對待某人；通常可以在do和by之間加入well，badly，all right，hard等詞

例 Take your car to Bob's Auto Repair. He'll do right by you.

3. do credit to sb. / do sb. credit **為…增光

解 習語；詞義溯源：給予某人［名望、榮譽（credit）］；參照do sb. proud

例 Gershwin's presence at the recital did credit to the new academy, which some say may be the Julliard of the future. He was invited by the first violinist of the Boston Pops, who graduated from the academy in 1989.

4. do justice to sb. or sth. / do sb. or sth. justice **公平對待；對（事物）作充分了解；盡情享用（大量食物）
