Number 11 - They Don't Focus On Weaknesses

 

Most people think it's worthwhile to put more time into strengthening their weaknesses. Those with confidence, however, understand that success comes with continuing to improve upon your strengths. They are able to accept their own weaknesses gracefully, and put more time and effort into endeavors where they know they'll have more likelihood of success. They maximize their time and energy this way.

第十一，他們不會(huì)揪著自己的缺點(diǎn)不放。很多人認(rèn)為，多花時(shí)間去改進(jìn)自己的缺點(diǎn)是很直的去做的事情。然而，自信的人很清楚，不斷強(qiáng)化自己的優(yōu)勢(shì)才能成功。他們能夠坦然面對(duì)自己的缺點(diǎn)，把更多的時(shí)間和精力，放在能真正讓自己成功的事情上。這樣一來(lái)，他們就能最大化地利用自己的時(shí)間和精力。

 

Number 12 - They Don't Settle For Mediocre

Self-assured people have a vision of what they want, and they go for it. They don't hold back and allow their fears to keep them from trying. They push themselves to go above and beyond. They set the bar high for themselves and demand excellence. They know they are as deserving of the best - in both work and life - as anyone else.

第十二，他們不甘平庸。自信的人很清楚自己想要什么，并努力去爭(zhēng)取。他們不會(huì)退縮，不會(huì)因?yàn)楹ε露艞墖L試。他們不斷督促自己，向上走，往前走。他們對(duì)自己的要求很高，追求優(yōu)秀。他們知道，和其他人一樣，無(wú)論在生活中還是工作上，他們都值得擁有最好的一切。

 

Number 13 - They Don't Neglect Their Skills

So much of low self-confidence comes from not having the skills or training needed for great success. Those with confidence see clearly what they need to do to improve their chances of success. They are willing to commit the time and energy to improving their skills, advancing their training, or getting more education, in order to be more confident in their abilities.

第十三，他們很重視自己的技能。很多人不自信，是因?yàn)樗麄儧](méi)有掌握能讓自己有所成就的技能，也沒(méi)有接受過(guò)相關(guān)的訓(xùn)練。而那些自信的人很清楚地知道自己需要做什么才能成功。他們?cè)敢飧冻龃罅康膶?shí)踐和精力去打磨自己的技能，追求更好的訓(xùn)練，獲取更多的教育，這樣他們才能對(duì)自己的能力有自信。

 

Number 14 - They Don't Need Constant Praise

Have you ever been around someone who constantly needs to hear how great they are? Well, confident people are not like this – they don't need constant praise. They know that their success does not depend on other people's approval, and they understand that no matter how well they perform, there's always going to be somebody out there offering nothing but criticism. Confident people also know that the kind of confidence that's dependent on praise from other people, isn't really confidence at all - it's narcissism.

第十四，他們不需要源源不斷的夸獎(jiǎng)。你有沒(méi)有遇到過(guò)那種總是需要人家認(rèn)同他們的人？好吧，自信的人可不是這樣的，他們不需要?jiǎng)e人老是夸他們。他們知道自己的成功并不取決于他人的認(rèn)可，他們明白，無(wú)論自己做得有多好，總是會(huì)有人刻薄地批評(píng)他們。自信的人知道，依靠別人的褒揚(yáng)來(lái)建立的自信，根本不是真正的自信，這只不過(guò)是自戀罷了。

 

Number 15 - They Don't Resist Learning New Things

People with confidence, are life-long learners. Even when they are experts in their field, they have a learner's mindset. They know that there is so much more in life to achieve, and so many ways to grow. They aren't entrenched in old ways of doing things, or old beliefs about what is right or best. They look for ways to stretch themselves, through new endeavors.

第十五，他們樂(lè)于學(xué)習(xí)新事物。自信的人是終生學(xué)習(xí)者。就算他們是自己領(lǐng)域內(nèi)的專(zhuān)家，他們也會(huì)懷著學(xué)習(xí)者的心態(tài)。他們知道，人生中，他們要去爭(zhēng)取的東西還有很多，成長(zhǎng)的途徑也有很多。他們不會(huì)墨守成規(guī)，不會(huì)盲目相信那些老舊的觀點(diǎn)。他們不斷付出新的努力，去尋找讓自己成長(zhǎng)的方法。

 

Number 16 - They Don't Get Too Comfortable

Confident people understand that getting too comfortable is the mortal enemy of achieving goals. That's because they know that comfort leads to contentment, and contentment leads to stagnation. When they start feeling comfortable, they take it as a red flag, and start pushing their boundaries, so that they can continue to grow. They understand that a little discomfort is a good thing.

第十六，他們不貪圖安逸。自信的人知道，如果你感到很安逸，那么你就很難達(dá)成自己的目標(biāo)。這是因?yàn)?，一時(shí)的安逸會(huì)使人盲目滿(mǎn)足，而滿(mǎn)足導(dǎo)致止步不前。如果他們發(fā)現(xiàn)自己開(kāi)始感到安逸，他們會(huì)警惕起來(lái)，并且開(kāi)始不斷督促自己去挑戰(zhàn)極限，這樣才能繼續(xù)進(jìn)步。他們知道，一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)的不適感反而是好事。

 

Number 17 - They Don't Tell Themselves Stories

Confident people don't lie to themselves. They don't tell themselves things like, "I'm too old," or "I'm not smart enough," or "I'm not attractive enough." They don't hide behind denial or limiting beliefs that simply offer an excuse to remain stuck in the status quo. They are real with themselves, even when the truth seems daunting.

第十七，他們不會(huì)自己找借口。自信的人不會(huì)自欺欺人，他們不會(huì)跟自己說(shuō)，我太老了，我不夠聰明，我魅力不夠，這樣的話(huà)。他們不會(huì)讓反對(duì)的聲音或者狹隘的思想阻止自己，這樣的東西是借口，只會(huì)讓他們困于現(xiàn)狀。就算現(xiàn)實(shí)很令人沮喪，他們也會(huì)對(duì)自己誠(chéng)實(shí)。

 

Number 18 - They Don't Put Things Off

Why do people procrastinate? Sometimes it's because they're lazy. A lot of times, though, it's because they're afraid - afraid of change, failure, or maybe even success. Confident people don't put things off. They don't sit around waiting for the right time or the perfect circumstances, because they believe in themselves, and expect that their actions will lead them closer to their goals. They know that today is the only time that matters. If they don't think it's the right time, they make it the right time.

第十八，他們不會(huì)拖拖拉拉。為什么人們會(huì)拖延？有時(shí)候，這是因?yàn)樗麄兲珣?。而更多的時(shí)候，是因?yàn)樗麄兒ε拢麄兒ε赂淖?，害怕失敗，甚至害怕成功。自信的人不?huì)拖拖拉拉。他們不會(huì)懶懶散散，等著所謂的好時(shí)機(jī)到來(lái)，因?yàn)樗麄儗?duì)自己有信心，并且很期待自己的行動(dòng)會(huì)讓自己離目標(biāo)越來(lái)越近。他們知道當(dāng)下才是最重要的。如果他們認(rèn)為時(shí)機(jī)還不成熟，那么他們就會(huì)改變現(xiàn)狀，創(chuàng)造時(shí)機(jī)。

 

Number 19 - They Don't Force Their Views on Others

Confident people don't force their beliefs on anyone else - whether those beliefs are political or religious. They have a clear understanding that these beliefs and choices are personal for everyone. They may stand up for themselves when others oppose - but will never challenge what other people think, nor feel the need to tell them that they are wrong.

第十九，他們不會(huì)強(qiáng)迫他人認(rèn)同自己的觀點(diǎn)。自信的人不會(huì)強(qiáng)迫他人認(rèn)同自己的觀點(diǎn)，無(wú)論這是政治觀點(diǎn)還是宗教觀點(diǎn)之類(lèi)的。他們很清楚，對(duì)于每個(gè)人而言，這些觀點(diǎn)和選擇，都是人家自己的事。在他人反對(duì)自己的時(shí)候，他們可能會(huì)捍衛(wèi)自己的觀點(diǎn)，但是他們絕不會(huì)挑釁他人的觀點(diǎn)，也不會(huì)覺(jué)得自己一定要讓別人知道他們是錯(cuò)的。

 

Number 20 - They Don't Compromise Their Values

Having 'defined core values' gives foundational principles to any pursuit in life. Confident people live in alignment with their values, and will never compromise themselves or what they hold dear. They use these values as they make decisions in both life and work - even if it means giving up something desirable in the short term.

第二十，他們不會(huì)讓自己的價(jià)值觀妥協(xié)。無(wú)論人們追求什么，堅(jiān)定的價(jià)值觀都是最基礎(chǔ)的。自信的人根據(jù)自己的價(jià)值觀或者，并且絕不會(huì)讓自己或者自己珍惜的東西向他人妥協(xié)。在生活中和工作中，他們根據(jù)自己的價(jià)值觀來(lái)做決定，就算這意味著不得不暫時(shí)放棄一些很誘人的東西。

 

When it comes to confidence, one thing is certain: Truly confident people always have the upper hand over the doubtful and the skittish, because they inspire others, and they make things happen. Embracing the behaviors of confident people is a great way to increase your odds for success, which in turn, will lead to more confidence. Remember, building confidence is a journey, not a destination!
