Against a king, in whose mild bosom your atrocious injuries, even yet, have not excited hate; but who, insulted or victorious, still sues for peace.
跟國王啊，你那殘忍的刑訊還沒有激起仇恨，可是那些受到傷害或者僥幸逃脫的人們，還在祈求安寧。
Against a people, who never wronged the living being their Creator formed;
跟自從造物主給予生命，從未犯過過錯的人嗎?
a people, who received you as cherished guests, with eager hospitality and confiding kindness.
還是跟非常熱情地把你當成貴客招待，讓你馬上就有久逢知己之感的人呢?
Generously and freely did they share with you their comforts, their treasures, and their homes; you repaid them by fraud, oppression, and dishonor.
他們慷慨和隨便與你分享令他們倍感安慰的事情、他們的財富和他們的家庭，而你則拿欺詐、壓制和侮辱來回報他們。
