Western weddings tend to center around the church vows and stuff. But you won't see a lot of religion on Chinese weddings. We focus more on the family. In China, the bride and groom are supposed to offer tea to parents of both sides as a form of respect and appreciation for upbringing them. It's called the Tea Ceremony. Then the young couple would kneel down and kowtow. In turn, the parents would offer blessings and gifts in the form of Hongbao, which means a red envelop with money inside. The amount varies from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousand dollars. Money is plays a big part on Chinese weddings. The guests would also give Red Envelops as well. But not that much money. Don't worry.
