3分鐘學英語 [47]:英文"嚇唬"怎么說?

周末就要到愚人節(jié)了，面對小伙伴們的各種惡作劇，迫在眉睫、重中之重、亟待掌握的就是“嚇唬”的英文地道表達~

《Sherlock》第四季第一集，劇中這樣一幕：
Lady Smallwood: You also say you know what he's going to do next. What does that mean?
Sir Edwin: Perhaps that's all there is to it. Perhaps he was just trying to frighten you.

frighten 恐嚇，嚇唬。在美式英語中用的比較少，在英式英語中日常常用
I'm sorry I didn't mean to frighten you. I didn't know you were still here. 不好意思我沒想嚇你。我不知道你還在這兒。
His temper frightens me. When he loses it, he looks like he's gonna hit somebody. 我被他的脾氣嚇到了。他發(fā)起火來就像要打人一樣。

 

而相對應的美式英語口語中一般用：scare 嚇唬
You scared the crap out of me. Don't sneak up on me like that. 你把我嚇死了，不要悄悄的從后面嚇我。
Your cat scares me. It hisses at me every time I'm over. 你的貓把我嚇到了，每次我來它都沖我嘶嘶叫。
