Good people all, with one accord,

善良的人，異口同聲，

Lament for Madam Blaize,

哀悼，布萊茲夫人，

Who never wanted a good word—From those who spoke her praise.

生前，她不在意任何褒獎，盡管，他們發(fā)自內(nèi)心稱贊。

The needy seldom passed her door,

And always found her kind;

She never slumbered in her pew—But when she shut her eyes.

Her love was sought, I do aver,

她追求者甚眾，我敢斷定，

By twenty beaux and more;

那些人百般追求，傾心思慕，

The king himself has followed her—When she has walked before.

But now, her wealth and finery fled,

Her hangers-on cut short all,

Her doctors found, when she was dead—Her last disorder mortal.

待最后離世，醫(yī)生才發(fā)現(xiàn)，她身體衰竭，難以挽救。

Let us lament, in sorrow sore;

悲哀深深，無以表述，

For Kent Street well may say,

那條肯特大街，或許見證，

That, had she lived a twelvemonth more—She had not died today.

她多活一年，該有多好，否則不會遺憾，她走得太早。
