25.4.1　并列句中的省略

1) 并列句中，如果后面分句有詞和前面分句的詞相同，有時(shí)可以省略，以避免重復(fù)：

Some of them were injured, but most of them weren't. 他們中有些人受傷了，但大部分人沒(méi)受傷。

She could have applied for that job, but she didn't. 她本可申請(qǐng)那份工作，但她沒(méi)有。

One soldier was killed and two others wounded. 有一個(gè)士兵被打死，另外兩個(gè)受了傷。

I work in a factory and my sister on a farm. 我在工廠工作，我妹妹在農(nóng)場(chǎng)工作。

Tom majors in history and I in computer science. 湯姆學(xué)歷史，我則學(xué)電腦。

My office is on the ground floor and hers on the 5th. 我的辦公室在一樓，她的在五樓。

The scenery was beautiful, and the acting superb. 布景很漂亮，表演很出色。

She can't speak French and I can't either. 她不會(huì)講法語(yǔ)，我也不會(huì)。

I didn't see it and nor did Marry. 我沒(méi)看見(jiàn)，瑪麗也沒(méi)看見(jiàn)。

2) 有時(shí)并列連詞可引導(dǎo)一個(gè)短語(yǔ)，也可說(shuō)有詞省略：

You must stop, and (stop) at once, this sort of behavior. 你必須停止這種行為，而且是馬上停止。

They tried to save her, but in vain. 他們?cè)噲D救活她，但沒(méi)成功。

I won't stop, not until I've achieved my ambition. 我不會(huì)停止，直到我實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的理想。

She wouldn't go home, not even when I had asked twice. 她不肯回家，甚至我勸了她兩次仍不肯回去。
