"I hear on the radio that there's a stalled car in the fast lane near La Brea." “我從廣播上得知，靠近拉布雷阿街的快車道上有一輛車子拋錨了”。

I'm listening to the radio — to the drive time traffic report, and they tell me that there is a stalled car. 我正在聽廣播——開車時間的交通報告，播音員們告訴我說，有一輛車子拋錨了。

To stall, "stall," means here to stop — to stop working. “Stall”在這里是“停止行駛”的意思。

It doesn't mean that the car will never run again — will never work again. 它并不意味著車子再也開不了了。

Usually, when we use the verb stall, we mean that it is stopped for a temporary time because it has some problem. 通常，我們使用動詞“stall”的時候，我們是指由于發(fā)生了故障，所以它暫時停了下來。

So, a stalled car is a car that has stopped working, 因此，車子拋錨就是車子停止了行駛，

and if you are on the freeway and your car stalls, you will, of course, cause a problem for the other drivers. 并且如果你在高速公路上開車時車子拋錨了，你當然會給其他司機帶來麻煩。

Normally, you try to get your car onto the shoulder. 通常情況下，你會盡量把車子弄到路肩上。

The shoulder is the part of the freeway where you can stop your car and not get in the way of anyone else. 路肩是高速公路的一部分，那兒你可以停車，就不會擋住其他車子的路。

It's on the right hand side or the left hand side; you can have a shoulder on either side of the freeway. 它不是在右手邊，就是在左手邊;高速公路的任意一邊都會有路肩。
