To swipe is the verb we use when we talk about credit cards or key cards. 我們提到信用卡或鑰匙卡的時(shí)候會(huì)用到動(dòng)詞“swipe”。

To swipe, "swipe," means to take the card and put it into what we would call a reader very quickly. 刷(swipe)是拿著卡并快速地把它放到讀卡器上的意思。

So, for a credit card, the clerk will swipe the card — will put it through the machine very quickly. 因此，對于信用卡，銀行職員會(huì)刷這卡——會(huì)讓它快速地通過讀卡器。

For a key card, you put it through the machine so you can get into somewhere. 而對于鑰匙卡，你讓它通過讀卡器，這樣你就能進(jìn)入某個(gè)地方。

It's a key — an electronic key. 鑰匙卡是鑰匙——電子鑰匙而已。

I "park my car," I "grab my briefcase and my coffee" — very important, my coffee — and I "head toward the elevator." 我“停好車”，“拿上公文包和咖啡”，——咖啡當(dāng)然非常重要——“然后前往電梯處。”

To head toward something means to walk in that direction or move in that direction. “Head toward something”是朝那個(gè)方向移動(dòng)的意思。

So, I walk toward the elevator, and my whole trip "only took 40 minutes." 因此，我走向電梯，我的整個(gè)路程“只花了40分鐘”。

Americans love to complain about how terrible their commutes are. 美國人愛抱怨他們糟糕的通勤。

In some cities, 30 or 40 minutes is considered a long commute, and in some cities, like Los Angeles, it's considered an average commute. 在有些城市，30-40分鐘屬于長距離通勤，但在洛杉磯這樣的城市，它則屬于平均通勤距離。

In other countries, some people commute an hour or an hour and a half in order to get to their work. 在其他的城市，有些人為了去上班要花一個(gè)或一個(gè)半小時(shí)的時(shí)間。
