#1.大家最熟悉的chicken

Chicken is the most general, common word: chicken是最大眾化、最通用的詞

Too general: 太常用、太家常了

比如

KFC (Kentucky fried chicken): 肯德基

Poultry: 家禽類

Chicken is what you eat: 食用肉雞

Chicken也是膽小鬼

"Chicken" also means a coward: chicken俚語的意思是膽小鬼

比如：

You're such a chicken! 你這個膽小鬼!

I wanted to ask her out, but I chickened out. 我本來想約她出去，但是退縮了。

雞年不是chicken year!

#2.Rooster是雄赳赳、氣昂昂的大公雞!

Rooster is the male chicken: rooster是大公雞

Alpha male: 大男人

Proud, stately: 驕傲、有氣場

最常用的兩處：

1) The year of the rooster: 雞年

2) The shape of China on a map is like a rooster: 中國的版圖像一只大公雞

說到公雞，還有一個詞，大家最好避免使用:

Cock: 公雞。但它還有另一層意思，不太雅觀，所以這個詞最好別用

但是換成形容詞，倒是可以用：

Cocky: 驕傲自大的

說完公雞，說母雞

#3. Hen: 母雞

Hen: 母雞

Old mother hen: 老母雞

Old hen: 嘮叨的媽媽，但也是不尊重的說法，避免使用

注意，老母雞湯不是hen soup!

Chicken soup就行了

中外雞湯區(qū)別大!

外國雞湯多用切丁雞胸肉(diced chicken breast meat), 外加蔬菜丁、意面。

Chick is baby chicken: chick是小雞

還有一個意思是

Chick: 妞兒、妹，但是不太尊重女性，最好避免使用

春節(jié)到，春暖大地

來只spring chicken

Spring chicken: 春雞、童子雞

Roasted spring chicken: 烤童子雞

還能用來形容人

I'm no spring chicken: 我老啦

Someone is no spring chicken: 某人年紀不小啦
