英語說清時間，有一個很關(guān)鍵的詞

Quarter

1.quarter

Quarter的意思是四分之一，英語里真的很常用!

用于時間：a quarter = 15 minutes

用于錢：a quarter = 25 cents

表達(dá)時間，quarter怎么用?

a quarter past = 一刻

a quarter till = 三刻

比如：

2:45

two forty five (直接讀，一般不要用o'clock)

a quarter till three

兩個說法都可以

2:15

two fifteen

a quarter past two

總結(jié)一下：

基本上，時間有兩種說法：

1.直接讀數(shù)字：two forty five, two twenty

記住當(dāng)中不要加o'clock。O'clock只有整點才需要用。

幾點零幾分：two o five, 小時和分鐘中間加個字母O.

2.碰到幾刻，用quarter：

但是需要past或者till介詞連接

比如quarter past ten (10:15), quarter till eleven (10:45)

幾點半怎么說?

同樣，兩種方法：

1.XXX + thirty

比如8:30: Eight thirty

2.Half

一般用half的時候，我們可以用half past XX

比如8:30

想想兩點半怎么說?>>> Half past two

或者Two thirty.

和quarter不同，half只會用于half past, 而不是half till。

整點怎么說?

1.On the dot: 整點

It's six on the dot. 現(xiàn)在是六點整。

I'll be there seven on the dot. 我會七點整到那里。

這個說法特別突出準(zhǔn)時的概念。

2.O'clock: 點

It's six o'clock.

It's seven o'clock.

3.Just say the number: 直接說數(shù)字It's six.

It's seven.

非整點怎么說?

這里還是有些文化差異

In Chinese, we are quite precise with our time telling：中文描述時間經(jīng)常會說得很精確

We'd say the exact time: 我們會把確切的時間，幾點幾分說出來

In English, you don't usually say right to the minute, often you just say "It's just past..." 在英語里，不太確切說幾分，大家經(jīng)常說 “現(xiàn)在剛過……”

比如8:33

eight thirty three是確切的說法

但是很多人會說：it's just past eight thirty. 8點半剛過一點

a.m. p.m.從何而來?

a.m.和p.m.都是拉丁語 (Latin)

a.m. = ante meridiem 上午

p.m.= post meridiem 下午

ante = before

post = after

meridiem = midday

24小時制: 美國人很陌生

The 24- hour o'clock scale：24小時制

We don't use 24-hour o'clock: 在美國不太用24小時制

Unless you are in the military: 除非是軍隊

We actually call it “military time”：我們確實是把24小時制稱為軍隊時間

It's five o five. = 5:05 (注意，英語中幾點零幾分的“零”要讀成英語字母“o”)

It's five thirty. = 5:30

2.xx past xx 幾點過幾分

It's five past five. = 5:05

It's a quater past five. = 5:15

It's half past five. = 5:30

3.xx till/to xx 差幾分幾點

It's five till five. = 4:55

It's a quarter till five. = 4:45

美國人算時間更燒腦!

美國有N個不同的時區(qū)(Time zones)

In the lower 48 states, we have four time zones. 我們的48個州(除去阿拉斯加和夏威夷州，因為這兩個州不在本土)一共有4個時區(qū)

Eastern time zone (EST) 東部時間。東岸的時區(qū)，包括紐約、華盛頓等地方。

Pacific time zone (PST) 太平洋時間。西岸的時區(qū)，包括洛杉磯、西雅圖等地方。

Central time zone (CST) 中部時間。中部偏東一點點，包括了芝加哥、休斯頓等地方

Mountain time zone (MST) 山區(qū)時間。中部偏西一點點，包括了丹佛、鳳凰城等地方(這些地方都分布于落基山脈，所以稱為山區(qū)時間)。

除了時區(qū)，美國還保留了夏令時 (Day light saving )

和中國不同，美國還保留了夏令時。夏天的時候要把鐘調(diào)快一個小時。

In the U.S., day light saving starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. 美國的夏令時開始于3月的第二個星期天，結(jié)束于11月的第一個星期天。

When it ends, you should turn your clock back. 結(jié)束時，你要把鐘調(diào)回來

For instance, the eastern time zone is 12 hours behind China when it's in summer: 比如美國東部時間，夏天比中國晚12個小時

But it's 13 hours behind China when it's in winter: 而冬天比中國晚13個小時
