【笑話原文】

Your Grandfather

A well-dressed young man demanded as soon as he entered the restaurant. "Serve me, quick! Give me your best. I don't care the price."

Not like the way he talked, the waiter said to him: "Hey Buddy, it doesn't matter you have a lot of money. You are still son of somebody, and grandson of somebody else."

The young man raged: "Dare you! Tell me, who wants me to be his grandson?"

The waiter replied with ease: "Nobody. Just your grandfather."

一位衣冠楚楚的年青人一進(jìn)飯店就大聲嚷嚷：

“喂，有什么好菜盡管端上來(lái)，錢(qián)多少我不在乎。”

服務(wù)員聽(tīng)了很不是滋味：“哥兒們，錢(qián)多有什么用，你不照樣得做別人的兒子，就是有人要你做孫子你也不敢不做!”

年青人勃然大怒：“誰(shuí)敢占w的便宜?你說(shuō)，是誰(shuí)不要命了，膽敢要我做他的孫子?”

服務(wù)員慢條斯理地答道：“你的爺爺!”

【詞匯講解】

1.demand強(qiáng)烈要求。She demanded a room all to herself.她強(qiáng)烈要求自己一個(gè)人住一個(gè)房間。

2.as soon as一…就。Come here as soon as you finish the work.工作一結(jié)束你就到這里來(lái)。

3. serve服務(wù)。也可以指“向…供應(yīng)”：The restaurant serves nice food.這家飯館供應(yīng)的飯菜不錯(cuò)。“度過(guò)(某段時(shí)間)”：She served two years in prison for theft.她因偷竊服了兩年刑。

4. buddy老兄。也可以指“伙伴”：We’re good buddies.我們是好朋友。作動(dòng)詞是“親近”的意思：She buddied up to Laura, hoping to get to know her brother.她和勞拉來(lái)往， 希望結(jié)識(shí)她的哥哥。
