I Got the License Plate Number

Mary was at home watching TV with her friends when she heard a noise. She ran out just in time to see a thief drive off in her car. “Did you see his face?” Her friends asked when she came back inside. “No, but it’s okay—I got the license plate number!”

瑪麗正在家里和幾個朋友一起看電視。她聽見有一種噪音，就跑出去，正好看見一個竊賊開著她的車跑了。當她回到屋子里的時候，她的朋友們問她有沒有看清那個竊賊的臉。她說：“沒有。不過沒關(guān)系。我把車的牌照號碼記下來了。”

【詞匯講解】

1.noise噪聲，喧嘩聲。 The noise awoke me from my sleep.喧鬧聲使我從睡夢中醒過來。

2.run out 跑出來。還有“結(jié)束”的意思： When does the lease of the house run out?這房子的租約何時到期?
