【笑話原文】

Horrible Banana

Two girls were taking their first train trip to Moscow. A vendor came down the corridor selling bananas which they’d never seen before. Each bought one. The first one eagerly peeled the banana and bit into it just as the train went into a tunnel. When the train emerged from the tunnel, she looked to her friend and said, “I wouldn’t eat that if I were you.” “Why not?” “I took one bite and went blind for half a minute.”

可怕的香蕉

兩個女孩頭一次做火車到莫斯科去。有一個小販沿著火車過道賣香蕉。她們從來沒有見過香蕉，就各自買了一個。有一個迫不及待地剝了皮，咬了一口。正好這時候火車過一條隧道。當火車從隧道的另一頭出來的時候， 她看著她的朋友說：“我要是你的話我就不吃這個。”“為什么?”“我咬了一口，結(jié)果有半分鐘什么也看不見。”

【詞匯講解】

1.horrible可怕的。也有“極不友好的”的意思：Don't be so horrible to me!別對我如此不友好。

2.banana香蕉。be bananas發(fā)瘋。Everyone's beginning to think I'm bananas.每個人都認為我瘋了。

3.vendor攤販。也有“賣主”的意思：Is the vendor always held responsible if goods are faulty?如果產(chǎn)品有瑕疵, 賣主是否一定要負責到底?

4.peel剝?nèi)ニ蚴卟说钠?。作名詞有“果皮”、“蔬菜皮”的意思。

5.tunnel隧道。也可以指“洞穴”：A mouse dug a tunnel under the lawn.老鼠在草地下打了洞。

6. emerge出現(xiàn)。也有“從…中脫穎而出”的意思： Many distinguished men have emerged from slums.很多名人都出身于貧民區(qū)。
