Let's get started first with your background.I do think I know a lot about you. 首先聊聊你的背景 我覺(jué)得我很了解你

You were born in India.What was it about the United States that made you really want to come here? 你是在印度出生的 美國(guó)的哪一點(diǎn)讓你真的很想過(guò)來(lái)

The opening sequence of Dallas.You know,I was growing up as a kid in India in the 70s. 《達(dá)拉斯》的序幕 我七十年代在印度長(zhǎng)大

India was then a very poor country,cut off from the world. 印度是個(gè)很窮的國(guó)家 與世隔絕

And then we could get these bootleg copies of Dallas,which were done on old VHS Tapes. 我們搞到了《達(dá)拉斯》的盜版 是VHS版本

Kids are not going to understand this.Ancient technology called videotape. 孩子們不懂 那是古老的科技 叫做錄像帶

And the opening sequence was this shiny glass in Dallas,helicopters landing on roots,big Cadillacs and men in 10 gallon hats. 《達(dá)拉斯》的序幕是達(dá)拉斯閃亮的玻璃摩天大樓 屋頂上停著直升機(jī) 卡迪拉克轎車(chē) 帶著巨大帽子的男人

That was my American dream.And Victoria principal. 那就是我的美國(guó)夢(mèng) 還有維多利亞·普林西帕爾

Incredibly hot women throwing drinks in men's faces.Exactly.So part of it was just the with America.This larger than life country. 超性感的女人 往男人臉上潑飲料 是啊 一部分原因是美國(guó)的魅力 這個(gè)傳奇國(guó)家

Part of it was the people who came back and had gone to college in America would talk about college like it was really fun. 還有一部分原因是去美國(guó)上大學(xué) 然后回來(lái)的那些人會(huì)說(shuō)大學(xué)很好玩

And I,I'm not talking about keg parties.I mean they would find the process of the course,the classes,this was all fun. 我說(shuō)的不是飲酒會(huì) 他們會(huì)覺(jué)得課程的過(guò)程都很好玩

That's not what it was meant to be like in Asia.In Asia you went to college and it was kind of a drag 在亞洲不是這樣 在亞洲上大學(xué)是個(gè)負(fù)擔(dān)

and you studied hard and there was these tests at the end of two years or three years and you heart out for those tests 你認(rèn)真學(xué)習(xí) 一年兩年三年后會(huì)有許多考試 為了那些考試你操碎了心

and then you forgot everything you had studied the day after the test.Right. 接著考試那天之后 你就立馬忘了學(xué)過(guò)的一切 好吧

So to be told that there's a college experience where you actually learn and enjoy it and call follow your passion,this sounded really cool to me. 所以有人跟我說(shuō)了大學(xué)體驗(yàn)還可以 真正學(xué)習(xí) 樂(lè)在其中 追隨你的愛(ài)好 我覺(jué)得這很酷
