I remember, I remember
The house where I was born,
The little window where the sun
Came peeping m at morn(1);
He never came a wink too soon,
Nor brought too long a day,(2)
But now I often wish the night
Had borne my breath away I(3)

我出生的那所房屋，
還有那扇小窗，
清晨太陽(yáng)向里面窺探。

也不使人感到白天太長(zhǎng)。

I remember, I remember
The roses red and white,
The violets, and the lily-cups,

The lilacs where the robin built,
And where my brother set
The laburnum on his birth-day,--
The tree is living yet !

我弟弟在他生日那天

Where I was used to swing(5),
And thought the air must rush as fresh
To swallows on the wing(6);
My spirit flew in feathers then,
That is so heavy now,
And summer pools could hardly cool
The fever on my brow!

我常去蕩秋千的地方，
心想那撲向飛翔著的燕子的清風(fēng)
必定是同樣地令人心曠神怡，
我的心啊，那時(shí)猶如插翅飛翔，
現(xiàn)在卻沉重?zé)o比，
即使夏日的水潭也難以
消退我額頭上的高熱!
I remember, I remember
The fir-trees dark and high;
I used to think their slender tops
Were close against the sky:
It was a childish ignorance,
But now 't is little joy
To know I'm further off from heaven(7)
Than when I was a boy.
我記得，我記得
那些樅樹蒼郁而高聳，
我常思量它們纖細(xì)的樹梢
幾乎緊貼著天空，
那是孩子的天真無(wú)知，
但現(xiàn)在我卻很少歡樂，
由于知道自己離開天國(guó)
比兒時(shí)更加遙遠(yuǎn)。
英文注釋：
(1) morn=morning，常用于詩(shī)歌中。
(2) Nor brought too long a day：也不使人感到白天太長(zhǎng)。暗指童年快樂，不覺察時(shí)光之流逝。
(3)Had borne my breath away：帶走我的生命。breath代表"生命'。這句暗指老年覺得長(zhǎng)夜漫漫，但愿能長(zhǎng)眠安息。
(4)Those flowers made of light;由光彩組成的花朵。指花朵色彩鮮艷。
(5)I Was used to swing：was used to解作"習(xí)慣于"，swing用作名詞，解作"秋千的擺動(dòng)"。由于swing作動(dòng)詞時(shí)，可解作"上絞刑"，因此不使用 I used to swing的結(jié)構(gòu)。
(6) on the wing：正在飛翔的。
(7) I'm further off from heaven：離開天國(guó)更加遙遠(yuǎn)。這句話感嘆自己年老時(shí)不如童年時(shí)天真無(wú)邪，那樣圣潔。
