A child's a plaything for an hour; 孩子只是個(gè)片刻的玩意兒;
Its pretty tricks we try 我們讓他逗著玩，
For that or for a longer space ---- 玩會(huì)兒，或玩的時(shí)間長(zhǎng)一些——
Then tire, and lay it by. 累了，就把他擱一邊。
But I knew one that to itself 可我認(rèn)識(shí)個(gè)孩子不一樣，
All seasons could control; 他擺布一年四季;
That would have mocked the sense of pain 他能使遭受不幸的人兒
Out of a grieved soul. 一下子把痛苦忘記。
Thou straggler into loving arms, 你一頭扎進(jìn)親愛(ài)的懷抱，
Young climber-up of knees, 爬上膝蓋的小乖乖!
When I forget thy thousand ways 我忘記你的千姿百態(tài)時(shí)——
Then life and all shall cease. 萬(wàn)類(lèi)將停止存在。
