一般來(lái)說(shuō)，在一些特定的詞語(yǔ)引導(dǎo)的從句中都要用帶should的虛擬語(yǔ)氣。不過(guò)，在美國(guó)英語(yǔ)里，should是可省掉的。比如，凡是由suggest, request, order, demand, propose, desire, command, insist等及物動(dòng)詞所帶的賓語(yǔ)從句，其謂語(yǔ)部分的should可以省。例如：I suggest that we (should) hold a meeting next week.

凡是由"It is (was) requested（ordered, suggested, desired, decided等）that..."引導(dǎo)的名詞性主語(yǔ)從句中，其謂語(yǔ)部分的should可以省略。例如：It is requested that the cloth (should) be woven at once./It is desired that the bridge (should) be built in two years.
