① warn sb. of/about意為“提醒/告誡某人……注意”，后接名詞或動名詞。

She warned him about/of the serious situation that confronted them. 她提醒他注意他們所面臨的嚴重形勢。

He was warned of the danger. 他被告知要注意危險。

② warn sb. against意為“提醒/告誡某人……不要”，后接名詞或動名詞，意同warn sb. not to do sth.。

The doctor warned him against smoking. 醫(yī)生提醒他不要抽煙。

She warned him against telling lies. 她警告他不要撒謊。

她告誡孩子們不要在這一帶河里游泳。

She warned the children not to swim in that part of the river.

She warned the children against swimming in that part of the river.
