① should用作助動(dòng)詞,為shall的過(guò)去式,用來(lái)構(gòu)成過(guò)去將來(lái)時(shí),主要用于賓語(yǔ)從句中的第一人稱。
I told her that I should see her the next day. 我告訴她我將在第二天見(jiàn)她。
We thought we should never come here again. 我們?cè)詾橛肋h(yuǎn)也不會(huì)再到這里來(lái)了。
② should作情態(tài)動(dòng)詞,表示“應(yīng)該,應(yīng)當(dāng)”,通用于各種人稱。
We should help each other. 我們應(yīng)該相互幫助。
You should write a letter to her. 你應(yīng)該給她寫(xiě)一封信。

⑤ should be doing sth.表示應(yīng)該在做什么。
You shouldn't be sitting here doing nothing. 你不應(yīng)該坐在這里什么也不干。
You shouldn't be staying up so late. 你不該睡這么晚。
⑥ should have done sth.表示該做而實(shí)際未做,含有責(zé)備、遺憾、建議、指正的意味,意為“本應(yīng)該”。
You should have come earlier. 你本該早些來(lái)的。
These manuscripts should have been kept in a dry place. 這些手稿本應(yīng)存放在干燥的地方。
You should have told him you don't like to do it. 你來(lái)應(yīng)告訴他你不喜歡做那件事的。

⑦ shouldn't have done sth.表示不該做卻做了,或該做卻沒(méi)做,含有責(zé)備等意味。

⑧ should用在虛擬語(yǔ)氣中,相當(dāng)于would。
If we had planted this kind of trees in a damp place,they should have grown better. 這種樹(shù)要是種在潮濕的地方,會(huì)長(zhǎng)得更好。
If I were to do the job,I should do it in a different way. 要是我來(lái)做這項(xiàng)工作,我會(huì)以不同的方式做。
